One Hundred Christmases begins in 1872 Bavaria when the grandfather of 10-year-old Franz Hartmann presents him with a hand-carved oak angel the Christmas Eve before he sails with his parents to America.
From generation to generation, this Christmas angel celebrates the holidays, first with the Hartmans until it is fated to be with the Conlons - all the while sharing with both families the hope, faith and joy of the holiday season, as well as guiding them through the hardship, loss and misfortune that life can bestow.
As pioneers on the American frontier, the Hartmans and then the Conlons experience the progress of a nation moving ever onward: the opening of the West, the Gilded Age, World War I, the Great Depression, World War II, post-war prosperity, 1970s social transformations, and the millennial promise of renewal and optimism.
Despite trials and challenges, love never falters, finding itself rooted in simple courage, ordinary kindness and quiet moments - especially a century later when Lindy Conlon meets Rob Hartman, to reaffirm yet again the miracle of Christmas.
