Autorenporträt
Joy Horan grew up in one of the most beautiful parts of the world: Bondi Beach, Australia! Looking from the outside in, it was possible to think that her life looked idyllic. However, trouble and chaos seemed to follow her at every turn. She often displayed a deluge of emotional extremes. Some of the labels that she was identified with were "distracted", "emotional", "accident prone", "talkative", and "very naughty".She learnt at a young age to mask her emotions and her coping mechanisms were to simply live in dreamworld and a false reality. An adult diagnosis of ADHD definitely gave her self-compassion! It was helpful to finally be able to understand the huge range of emotions that she had dealt with over her lifetime.Knowledge, training and determination has led her to putting some helpful procedures into place.Joy has always had a desire to help others as she knows full well the difficulties she has faced. However, she has also been able to hone in on the positive areas that accompany ADHD. With empathy being a major attribute she hopes to help others embrace and understand some of the characteristics and sensory issues that are connected with Neurodivergence.
