The Author: Howard A. Smith is Associate Professor of Education (Educational Psychology) at Queen's University in Kingston, Canada. He received his Ph.D. in educational psychology from the University of Toronto. He is known internationally for his numerous publications on nonverbal communication in teaching, human learning, and the semiotics of education.
