Promise Land makes the case that the root cause for so many of America's current misfortunes is due to this nation's wanton abandonment of the fixed constitutional mechanisms of Census, Enumeration, and Apportionment . Promise Land makes the case that the root cause for so many of America's current misfortunes is due to this nation's wanton abandonment of the fixed constitutional mechanisms of Census, Enumeration, and Apportionment. That the 16th Amendment, ratified in 1913, unconstitutionally infuses our elected representatives with the arbitrary power of kings. Permitting them to take from the ordinary citizenry - anything they please - free of any constitutionally enforceable fixed mechanism ensuring constraint. Allowing them - an unpunishable license - to seek and develop their own private interests, completely separate and apart from the overall public good. Permitting them the power to completely hollow out and lay at their own feet everything the citizens own and work their entire lives to acquire. To dispense arbitrary favor and exemption to whomever they want, while systematically mocking our nation's most coveted ideals of equal protection, equal opportunity, and equal justice for all.

Through facts, figures, and historical analysis, Promise Land shows how Article 1, Sections 2 & 9 of the U.S. Constitution, which the 16th Amendment replaced, was specifically designed by our nation's framers to constrain governmental power, arrogance, and excess. And ensure the federal government always remained small, controlled and inexpensive, inextricably connected to all this nation's citizenry, and forever chained and obedient to the will and exclusive interests of the American people.

Autorenporträt
J.K.Emmons was born in 1958 in the inner-city of Columbus, Ohio. A lifelong student of American history, he began to take a serious interest in the ever-widening tension and disparity between the better interests and protections of the American people versus the actions of those in government. And how these actions worked in total defiance and opposition to the clear language contained in the U.S. Constitution.

He wondered how such wise and learned men, as the framers clearly were, could ever establish a system of governance which would one day grow so powerful, and the citizenry so utterly diminished? Wondering, where exactly is there a constitutional stop or reset button when government simply refuses to abide by the wishes and concerns of the overall citizenry? Specifically, where precisely in the U.S. Constitution is there any law or mechanism that actually binds those in government to the laws, will, and exclusive interests of the American people?

Promise Land is the culmination of the author's years-long search for answers. Showing precisely how all this happened, and how the American people have ended up living under a system of governance that no longer listens, and they can no longer trust.
