In Love Songs to My Soul: Poems of Transformation, experience the raw, unfiltered journey of a woman who has not only survived the trials of life but has emerged stronger and wiser. This poignant collection of poetry speaks directly to the heart of single women in middle age, particularly those who have faced the often-harsh realities of a patriarchal world. Dive into the deeply personal narrative of a former graduate student who bravely navigated her research among indigenous communities in Mexico. Feel the weight of her struggles as the only female in a male-dominated academic department. Through each verse, you will witness her metamorphosis from a student fighting for her place in the world to a sage woman embracing her role as a beacon of wisdom and strength. These poems are more than mere words on a page; they are a lifeline for women who have felt isolated and overwhelmed by their traumas. They are a testament to resilience, a celebration of triumph over adversity, and a powerful reminder that you are not alone. Let Love Songs to My Soul: Poems of Transformation be your guide and companion on your journey towards healing and empowerment. Allow its verses to inspire you, to validate your experiences, and to remind you of your incredible strength.
Jane Granskog, Ph.D., taught cultural anthropology at CSU Bakersfield for 38 years, researching indigenous Mexican tribes before retiring in 2012. A lifelong poet, she has used verse to express her authentic self throughout her vibrant life. Granskog's diverse passions led her to complete over 120 endurance events, including the Ironman World Championship, and explore spiritual and shamanic practices. As an elder woman anthropologist, Granskog weaves together her experiences as a teacher, athlete, and spiritual seeker to guide others on the "path of the wise woman." Her journey, chronicled through both academic work and poetry, reflects her quest for self-discovery and her desire to help others find their authentic selves.
