Christians often hear the word "shalom," equate it to peace, and move on. But "shalom" has a deeper meaning. Flourishing, wholeness, delighting in God, one another, and all of creation. Produktbeschreibung
Christians often hear the word "shalom," equate it to peace, and move on. But "shalom" has a deeper meaning. Flourishing, wholeness, delighting in God, one another, and all of creation. Righting everything that has gone wrong. We may all want shalom, but we often bring our own definitions of what that looks like to the table. In A Kaleidoscope of Shalom, Lisa A. DeYoung declares that this diversity of perspectives is a blessing, especially when we listen to historically marginalized voices.

Throughout the book, Lisa uses the metaphor of a kaleidoscope to describe our various viewpoints on how things are supposed to be and what we can do to embrace shalom. With reflections, journal prompts, prayers, and the practices of lectio divina and visio divina, Lisa offers us a fuller picture of shalom by walking through cross-cultural perspectives and reflections on the world as it is now and as it should be.

"Rather than us tossing one person's or culture's idea out," DeYoung writes, "It is when these ideas are held together, like a kaleidoscope, that we begin to see a complex and gorgeous pattern emerge. And when we turn the kaleidoscope of ideas and play with it in the light, we discover new and interesting things . . . new ways of seeing one another and new ways of defining shalom."

If you've ever wondered how you can grow in your faith and in community with fellow brothers and sisters in Christ by considering their perspectives and viewpoints, this devotional is a good fit for you.
