In the race for glory, murder sets the pace. In the cutthroat world of competitive cycling, speed isn't the only thing that kills. For elite cyclists Logan Seacrest and Reilly Dawson, victory is everything-until their fiercest rival is found brutally murdered, her body impaled in a gruesome, ritualistic display. What should have been a season of triumph spirals into a chilling nightmare. As they search for answers, Logan and Reilly uncover a dark undercurrent running through the cycling world-one where ambition turns deadly, secrets fester, and the past refuses to stay buried. But Julie's murder is just the beginning. Something sinister is stalking them, watching their every move. The enigmatic Chief Byrd, the brooding Slade Erde, and his dangerously charming brother Jake all seem to know more than they're saying. And then there's the whisper of something else-an unseen force, a presence lurking just beyond the veil of reason. With every race, the stakes grow higher. With every shadow, the danger closes in. Speed won't save them. Skill won't protect them. To survive, Logan and Reilly must face a truth more terrifying than death itself.
Pam admits to liking only three things: thinking about riding a bike, riding a bike, and writing-about just about anything. Her love of storytelling began at age five when her mother led her to the mystery section of the public library and said, "Pick out some books." That half-hour launched a lifelong obsession with crime-at least on the page.Years later, Pam spent 23 years writing for the Department of the Navy before shifting her focus to more creative pursuits-namely, dreaming up inventive ways to kill people (fictionally, of course) and writing about cycling in a far more standard fashion.Since the mystery stories and characters she loved as a child were no longer around, she started creating her own. She insists her tales are rooted in reality, just wildly exaggerated-because, as she puts it, real life is too unbelievable to pass as nonfiction. At 48, Pam took up bike racing and discovered she was pretty good at it. She won two national championships, climbed Mt. Whitney from Death Valley, and became an expert-level cycling coach. These days, she still rides-a lot-occasionally races, and spends her Sunday mornings screaming up and down mountains with her cycling posse. When she's not on two wheels, she's writing books about riding a bike in standard fashion while training the body in inventive fashion.
