Federick Hundertwasser was born in Vienna in 1928. He bought Kaurinui in the Bay of Islands in 1974 and designed the Kawakawa Public Toilets in 1999. He died in February 2000 of a heart attack while cruising to Australia. The toilets became famous as a tourist attraction and the local Municipality constructed an Art gallery and a new public library, as did the regional centre in Whangarei. Both were visited before I emigrated to the South Island. Unfortunatly, the COVID-19 restrictions stopped me from visiting Hundertwasser's grave at Kauri and the tree planted on his grave. This record tells the story (including many illustrations of own photographs, and those found on the internet).
