Hollywood: the summer of 1949. Jake Salazar, a Bronze and Silver Starred veteran of WWII, arrives in Tinsel town and lands a security job with Bob Cobb (owner of the Brown Derby restaurant chain and the Pacific Coast League baseball team, the Hollywood Stars). One fateful afternoon, during a game, Cobb and the Chief of Homicide, Mason Longdown, convince Jake to take a key role in an investigation of a murder that has occurred in Cobb's new office across from the stadium on Beverly Blvd. A Fifth Column of Nazis has claimed responsibility for the murder. Soon, Jake finds himself, along with the LAPD, FBI and a war buddy, Angel Mercado, involved in tracking down these murderous conspirators. With information from the CIA, they learn that Hitler has escaped to South America and is planning to address his Nazi sympathizers, in the Americas, over the PA system at the Stars stadium. Jake and the authorities foil the immediate threat by killing the Column's leader and core of his conspirators, but can they prevent the last remaining member of the Nazi conspiracy from blowing the Stars dugout to smithereens? Parallel to this intrigue is Jake's backstory and the fascinating & touching relationship with his California family.
