Anna and Toby can't wait for summer vacation at their grandparents' campground on beautiful Lake Pepin. But their vacation takes an unexpected turn when they meet Pepie, a gentle lake monster with a big heart and an even bigger mission-to protect the lake he calls home. When litter threatens the water's sparkle, the kids and Pepie team up to make things right. Together, they discover the magic of friendship, teamwork, and caring for nature. Our Friend Pepie is a heartwarming adventure that inspires young readers to cherish the out-doors, take pride in helping others, and believe that even small acts can make a big difference. Teri Kulow enjoyed 32 years as an elementary teacher sharing her favorite stories and encouraging her students to create their own stories. When she couldn't find a children's book featuring Pepie the Lake Monster for her grandchildren, she decided to write that story. Teri and her husband have been married since 1985 and raised two boys who have grown into wonderful adults. She and her husband are retired and enjoy golfing, traveling and camping with friends and family. Our Friend Pepie brings joy and adventure to young readers, encouraging them to explore their imaginations. The book is illustrated by Teri's long time friend and colleague, Shelly Nelson.
