Produktbeschreibung
Terys, a twenty-two-year-old mage, becomes the youngest member of the Council of Twenty in Crowdenburgh, the capital and centre of the Aetherbloom mageocracy. Orphaned as a baby, Terys grows up in a squalid orphanage before the Aetherbloom Order adopts him, recognising his remarkable talent. His dedication and skill lead him to excel in his training, and he joins the order's Council of Twenty. Terys's closest friends, Gwenyn and Laifa, also adopted by the order, support him in his new role. After his first Council meeting, Terys is summoned by Istrydd, the Order's leader, who informs him that the portal to the northern outpost of Ordenbridge has collapsed. At the same time, a letter from a distant healer describes a young man named Olazin having night terrors about a darkness awakening in the far north and calling Terys's name. Istrydd believes the events are connected and tasks Terys with travelling to the town of Nizhyn to bring Olazin to Crowdenburgh. As portal travel is halted due to safety concerns, Terys, Gwenyn, and Laifa embark on a two-week airship journey to reach Olazin.

Upon arriving in Nizhyn, Terys meets Olazin, a young blacksmith's apprentice. Olazin emotionally asks Terys for help. Terys convinces Olazin to return to Crowdenburgh with him for further study. Terys feels a profound connection to Olazin, as if their closeness is crucial. After arriving back in Crowdenburgh, Olazin is taken for study by the order's experts. Terys feels empty without Olazin nearby and confides in Istrydd, who suggests their meeting has deeper significance. Olazin's vivid descriptions of his visions lead the order to connect them to ancient prophecies about the Dark Vessels, entities believed to be imprisoned on Bosraine far to the north. The council debates the best course of action, and Terys, torn between his duties and his bond with Olazin, struggles with his role.

The Aetherbloom discovers evidence of a secret cult serving the Dark Vessels and suspects the druids know more. Istrydd sends Terys, Gwenyn, and Laifa to find the reclusive druids in Galloden, a town in the Shadowpine Forest. The druid leader gives Terys scrolls with crucial information. The order's further investigations reveal that the Dark Vessels, an ancient evil imprisoned eons ago, are starting to breaking free in the far north. The council decides an airship journey to Bosraine is necessary. As the conditions above the Arctic Divide sea are too harsh for standard airships, they plan to construct a special vessel for the mission.

Terys's determination grows as the urgency of the situation becomes clear. With the threat of the Dark Vessels looming, he realises that his connection to Olazin and the events unfolding may hold the key to preventing a looming catastrophe. The Aetherbloom's resolve strengthens, and they prepare for the perilous journey north, knowing it may be their only chance to confront the awakening darkness and protect their world.
