Produktbeschreibung
Dani has spent her life outrunning the truth-across soccer fields, through friendships, and far from the feelings she refuses to name. At twenty-one, she is fast, fearless, and absolutely not in love with her best friend. At least, that's what she tells herself. Until Mary says goodbye. Until she leaves for college carrying every word Dani never dared to speak, leaving behind a strange heirloom box-and a silence that fractures everything Dani thought she knew about her own heart. When the box opens, the world splits. Dragged through a tear in time, Dani wakes in 1905 Portland-a city of gaslight and rigid rules, where women are caged by expectation and difference is dangerous to be noticed. Desperate to return home, Dani learns to survive the past with quick wit and borrowed manners, even as her ignorance of its rules threatens to expose her. But the past tightens its grip in ways Dani never expects. Especially Rowen. To society, Rowen is everything this era demands: polished, powerful, untouchable. To Dani, they are something far more dangerous-someone surviving behind a carefully crafted disguise, bound by duty, an engagement they cannot refuse, and the fragile leverage keeping their mother alive. Loving Dani could unravel everything Rowen has sacrificed to protect. Then there is Gabe. Charming. Sharp-eyed. Uncomfortably familiar. His clock shop hums with secrets, and his interest in Dani feels less like chance and more like design. The deeper Dani sinks into the mechanics of time-and her own heartbreak-the clearer it becomes: her arrival was no accident, and the way home may demand a choice she can never take back. Caught between centuries and torn between desire and survival, Dani must decide what she is willing to lose before time closes its grip for good. Hauntingly romantic and unapologetically queer, steeped in longing and consequence, The Light Gazer is a story of forbidden love, buried truths, and the devastating cost of choosing yourself in a world not made for you.
