Rabbit's actions might seem a bit strange at first, but there's a reason behind them... Rabbit has something called "OCD." Dear Rabbit: Facing OCD One Hop at a Time is a children's book that introduces young readers to obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). It sheds light on the confusion of living with OCD and the difficulty of seeking help from those who might not fully understand it. The book explains how OCD can manifest in various ways, such as: - Arranging - Collecting - Checking - Cleaning - Rumination Most importantly, it emphasizes the value of exposure and response prevention (ERP), a leading treatment for OCD that empowers individuals to confront their compulsions and break free from the obsession-compulsion cycle. While OCD can seem overwhelming, the right knowledge and tools can help individuals thrive and reclaim their joy. As someone diagnosed with OCD, JoBeth Grigg understands its complexities. Having undergone transformative ERP herself, JoBeth is passionate about sharing hope and support with others facing OCD.
Since childhood, JoBeth Grigg has filled notebooks with stories and drawings, chasing the desire of one day becoming an author. Her debut children's book, "Dear Rabbit: Facing OCD One Hop at a Time," was inspired by her personal experience with obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) and the life-changing impact of exposure and response prevention (ERP). Through minimalist illustrations and accessible language, JoBeth aims to introduce young readers and their families to OCD and how it can be effectively treated. JoBeth is dedicated to challenging common misconceptions about OCD and hopes her work brings a sense of understanding to those who feel alone in their experience. Having grown up uncertain and isolated in her own struggle, she now works to help others feel understood and supported. Originally from South Carolina, JoBeth has a background in speech-language pathology and lives with her husband whom she adores. She is a Christian and is continually moved by how God has used her personal journey to encourage and uplift others. JoBeth advocates for individuals with OCD and other forms of neurodiversity, aiming to build awareness and support.
