Hidden in Plain Sight: A Translation of the Dào Dé J¿ng Based on Bronze Inscription Glyphs and Reimagined as a Secret Autobiography presents two very different approaches to the classic masterpiece. The main body of the book is a fresh translation of the Dào Dé J¿ng (Tao Te Ching) that incorporates images from the pictorial scripts Laozi (Lao Tzu) would have used. These pictures add layers to any classic translation of Laozi's message. Perhaps they even provide glimpses into his world. In fact, the second part of this book, presented as editorial comments by Laozi himself, is a work of historical fiction imagining that Laozi hid his own autobiography inside those images. It's the story of the person underneath Laozi's beard-someone who started out in desperate need of a disguise and ended up discovering and distilling profound wisdom that would last for millennia.
