Johnny is a poet, children's author, greeting cards writer and a songwriter. He truly believes that he was born to write. As a child, he was very shy and quiet, but imaginative. He wrote his first poem while in the third grade. In high school, he took courses in Advance Composition and Creative Writing. While in the U.S. Army, Johnny studied with The Institute of Children's Literature. He completed the courses offered there in July of 1980. So far, Johnny has written five children's books.
