40 Leadenhall Street is London’s newest architectural landmark. Spanning 900,000 square metres and accommodating up to 10,000 people, it is one of the biggest schemes to ever receive planning permission in the City of London.   This beautifully illustrated book features more than 150 images by renowned architectural photography James Reid, who has recorded every aspect of the site’s development over the past five years, documenting the ambitious project from concept to completion.   Accompanying Reid’s photography, writer Jonathan Bell tells the story of this extraordinary new building from the perspectives of the planners, developers, architects, engineers and artisans at the heart of its creation.   From its light-filled, triple-height entrance lobby, to its central square with indoor tree canopy, to its striking 34-storey tower, 40 Leadenhall Street’s design responds to its surrounding context while making its own confident statement within the City’s famous skyline, as this book chronicles and celebrates.
