Nancy Tavares comes from a family comes from a familyof teachers, writers, artists, nurses, quilters, farmers, and coal miners. She taught reading and writing to elementary students for 30 years in Vermont, where she lives with her husband, Tom. She has two grown children and three grandsons who live near-by. Nancy is a patient observer of nature and finds humor in the antics of animals, birds, and insects, which leads her to create quirky, lovable characters for her stories. Nancy previously published her debut picture book, CHICKEN COOP CHAOS, in 2023.
