In search of answers throughout her experience as a project coordinator in the area of public examinations, exams and certifications, the author sought to assess the influence that different selection methods have on the differentiation of candidates in public examinations organized by FGV Projetos. Three stages were considered for this study: the objective written test, the discursive written test and the evaluation of qualifications. The application of tests in public tenders should aim to contribute to the selection of quality public servants, by means of questions that require the necessary knowledge about the competencies for the exercise of a given public function. In this sense, based on the results obtained, an attempt was made to carry out an isolated and combined diagnosis of the selection models already applied. To achieve this goal, candidates must be subjected to careful assessments with stages that are relevant to the specifics of the position sought.
