Based on the scale and influence of historical works, considering the specificity of the term involving 'fine art' in China, and the scope of influence of the phenomenon of fine art in the cultural field, this book's study of the phenomena of painting, sculpture, photography, video and mixed-media art follows two linear time lines of historical relevance: 1949-1978 and 1978 to the present. Special attention is paid to the development of modern and contemporary art after 1978. Autorenporträt
Lü Peng is an eminent art historian, historiographer, critic, and curator. Born in 1956, he served as an associate professor for his alma mater, the Chinese Academy of Fine Arts, in Hangzhou. He is now a professor at the Macao University of Science and Technology, as well as at Sichuan Fine Arts Institute. He is Doctor of Letters from the China Academy of Art in Hangzhou. He is the author of several books on modern and contemporary Chinese art history and artist biographies. He is also the curator of several biennales in China.
