When Cara meets David on a holiday in the snowfields of Austria, she knows she has met the man she can tell her secrets. David has always known the direction his life will take until he meets Cara. Then he realises he wants a life he chooses, not one he is expected to live. Bought up to believe she is unworthy of love, Cara questions how much David's love for her could cost him. Trapped into an unhappy and violent marriage in San Francisco, David struggles to bring up his son. Meanwhile, Cara is fighting battles in Perth; battles to keep her friend's daughter from being taken away. Autorenporträt
Bernadette grew up in country Western Australia before moving to Perth, where she attended High School. She worked as an office assistant for many years before backpacking around Europe in the 70's. Returning to Australia, she raised her family and now has three wonderful grandchildren. Bernadette lives in Secret Harbour, Western Australia and writes from an Australian perspective. She has published Tomorrow's Roses, set in Fremantle during 1944-45 and Tomorrow's Promise, set in Cottesloe and locations around the world, during the turmoil of the Vietnam War. When researching a news article which stated that of 143 bodies exhumed at a grave site in High Park Dublin, only 75 were identified by name, A Holiday Promise came to mind. This article took Bernadette back to her school days, of furtive glances across a classroom and the imagination of young girls. The story evolved into one of sacrifice and secrets, of a search for the truth and a father's love.
