Matthew Heneghan was born in Barnstaple, United Kingdom on February 3rd 1983, and has been a Canadian citizen since 1994, he currently resided in Falkland B.C. Matthew Heneghan is a former Canadian Armed Forces medic and civilian paramedic whose life and writing are steeped in real-world trauma, recovery, and resilience. He is the author of A Medic's Mind and Woven in War, the latter of which is housed in the Canadian National War Museum for its cultural and historical value. Heneghan's voice as a writer blends emotional honesty, irreverent humour, and literary flair. He is a freelance columnist for CBC (2023-present), and a Word on the Lake Writers Festival winner in both nonfiction and fiction (2024 and 2025). His essays and stories navigate complex themes - from military service and PTSD to masculinity, loss, and healing - always with authenticity and impact.
