Josh MacDonald, a dedicated doctor, is respected by everyone on the remote Scottish island where he lives. But his character is an almost impossible paradox: brilliant and incorruptible as a professional; as a man he sees every beautiful woman as an opportunity for seduction - whether in person, or on social media. What will happen when he becomes deeply attracted to someone who is warm, honest and values him as a person - for his empathy and intellect - rather than a mere object of sexual desire? Will he be able to change? Will she accept him when she learns of the darker side of his character? And what will happen to them both when Josh's very life is in danger?
Alex grew up in the North of England, and, because her father, who was a well-known jazz musician, inspired her to try anything that life threw in her path, she enjoyed an eclectic childhood, before heading off to University to study English. This philosophy has stayed with her always and is reflected in her novels, which are about ordinary people who face extraordinary situations and frequently pose the question 'What if?'She now lives in the Yorkshire Dales with her loyal labradors and husband. Before settling into life in her beloved Yorkshire and full-time writing, she enjoyed various careers in London, and high-profile positions in education in the west country.Alex has two highly individual grown-up daughters whose influence is threaded through much of her work. The inspiration for this book, A Seeker of Everyday Magic, was the memorable summer that she spent on an archaeological dig on the Outer Hebrides. The peace and purity of the land and the warmth of the people have stayed with her always. Alex is passionate about exploring the beauty of the natural world and has been fortunate to be able to see many parts of it, inspiring her to regularly practice Tai Chi and Yoga with her like-minded friends.
