John Scott Whiteley is Organist Emeritus of York Minster. As a soloist he has performed all over the world, and he is known for introducing the organ to a wider public through the BBC television series 21st-Century Bach. He has also made seven DVDs and over fifty commercial recordings. In addition to performing, his time is spent examining, transcribing, composing, and writing. He is a Visiting Research Fellow at the University of Huddersfield, where he was recently awarded a DMus by examination. He is also the Academic Adviser to the Orgelbüchlein project and a Liveryman of The Worshipful Company of Musicians.
