A native of Michigan's Upper Peninsula, Linda Wirtanen Fitzgerald migrated to Ann Arbor for graduate school and, like so many others, never left. After brief stints as a magazine editor, newspaper reporter, and scriptwriter for sales seminars, she found her professional niche as senior copywriter in an ad agency and later launched her own one-woman firm. In 2023, she realized her longtime ambition of authoring a mystery novel with the publication of Death at the Doorstep, the debut adventure of Ann Arbor freelance writer and amateur sleuth Karin Niemi. The second novel in the series, A Superior Way to Die, is set in her hometown of Munising.
