Olivera Olja Jelkic, a children's author, has been writing and publishing for 25 years. She has published more than 20 novels. She has been a member of the European Academy of Sciences, Arts and Literature in Paris since 2018. She is the winner of the "Golden Badge" of the Cultural and Educational Association of Serbia for her contribution to culture and promotion of culture and books. She is an honorary doctor of science from the Slobomir P University; the creator and owner of the project "Little Free Libraries". Oral narrator, where she reads and records books at the Association of the Blind, which are published in an audio version adapted for the blind.Her books have been translated and published in several foreign languages: English, Slovenian, Chinese, Russian, Uzbek, Macedonian, Ruthenian, Hungarian.Olivera's novels can be divided into two groups: fiction for younger children and novels for older children, which deal with serious topics such as: child trafficking, attitudes towards pets, problems of transgender people, legal problems, and similar.She has won a number of awards for individual novels, some of which have been named Book of the Year. Recently, she has also won several awards for her entire oeuvre, both in Serbia and in the countries of the region.
