This study falls within the framework of transport geography, applied to the spatial planning of a major Central African city: Kinshasa, the capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo. The peri-urbanization that characterizes the Kinshasa conurbation is manifested in various spatial, demographic and infrastructural urban planning phenomena, leading to the marginalization of peripheral districts due to a deficient road network. This observation caught our attention and led us to raise a fundamental concern, reflected in the questions raised by our work. Given these negative impacts, the need to reorganize the road network and rehabilitate the infrastructure must be considered a priority for the development of this part of the city of Kinshasa. Collective awareness, the commitment of all stakeholders and effective governance are essential to support development initiatives and provide sustainable solutions.
