She gained recognition for her contributions to children's literature, as well as for her hymns, which showcased her deep spiritual beliefs. Throughout her career, Doudney was known for her ability to write in a way that resonated with both young readers and adults, capturing themes of moral integrity, faith, and human emotion in her works. In addition to her children's books, Doudney wrote a number of novels and poems, with her works often reflecting the Victorian values of her time.
