Budding artist Lorelei Channing is in love with art curator Harry Snowden. But he doesn't know she exists. By day she is Lori Channing, a docent at the Art Gallery of Hamilton; by night she is textile artiste Lorelei. Due to a mistake, Lorelei has won a contest to have one of her pieces exhibited in a prestigious art show, whose opening night is Christmas Eve. Bigwigs from the large provincial art museums and even the National Gallery of Canada will view her work. Unfortunately, the president and CEO of her gallery (AGH) dislikes her because she lives in an apartment loft above the new gallery shop with her Siamese cat Giselle and a male friend, Duncan. The cat keeps escaping and wreaking havoc with the museum shop's Christmas decorations. But because museum docents are volunteers, the CEO cannot fire her. When Harry finally notices her because of her artwork, he still doesn't know that she is the bumbling docent his mother complains of. Between Lori's mistakes and Giselle's mischief Madam CEO begins to have suspicions. When she learns that her son is dating the artist Lorelei, she decides to put an end to it. Although at first Lorelei is innocent of any wrongdoing, later when she discovers that another artist and not she had actually won the contest, she keeps the knowledge to herself. But the real winner is not only a starving artist, but now homeless. When Harry discovers her lie, he stands by her-for all the wrong reasons. It is only when Lorelei's dreams are destroyed by her own hand, does she see where true happiness lies.
