Seen only in scattered black and white snatches on Pathe newsreels, or when they played at opponent's ground-imagine the Big Top Circus coming to town. Or a Hollywood movie having its opening Premier at your local Odeon and all the stars attending.They promised hope-they put smiles on people's faces in true hard times. A new way forward. There was something, breathtakingly and completely unorthodox about how the reds set about opposing teams. Nowhere more so was this on display than a winter's day in North London, 1 February 1958.
