This biography of Ada Lovelace relates the story of an extraordinary genius who grew up in unusual circumstances. The daughter of the famous Lord Byron, Ada Lovelace didn't have the idyllic childhood one would expect for a child born into a baron's family. This biography of Ada Lovelace relates the story of an extraordinary genius who grew up in unusual circumstances. The daughter of the famous Lord Byron, Ada Lovelace didn't have the idyllic childhood one would expect for a child born into a baron's family. Her parents separated almost immediately after she was born, and her mother referred to Ada as 'it' (yikes) - what an environment for a little girl! Her headaches during childhood were so severe they nearly made her blind, and she was bedridden for nearly a year when she was eight, because of a severe attack of measles. Through it all, her passion for reading (she loved numbers and technology) and music kept her going. As she famously asked, 'If you can't give me poetry, can't you give me poetical science?' Whimsically titled 'Mother of Computers' and the 'Enchantress of Numbers', the story of the world's first Computer Programmer is definitely one worth telling to little kids, not only because of her genius, but also because of her perseverance, indomitable spirit, passion, and sheer, gritty, strength. Perfect forBabies, Toddlers, Children aged 0 to 7 years Birthday Presents, Christmas Presents, Presents for 'kids who have everything' Teaching Diversity and Inclusion by challenging traditional norms of what a hero looks like Anyone who like rhyming books and needs a dose of hope Why Parents and Teachers love the bookFeatures an inspiring Heroine to encourage little steminists Glossary explaining all the 'big' words Timeline chronicling Ada's life Free Teaching Resources for the book at www.ramyajulian.com
Autorenporträt
Author, illustrator, and dentist, Ramya Julian finished her first novel at the age of ten and she avers it was very well received, though it was read only by her brother. She has all the hobbies of a maiden Victorian aunt - reading, writing, painting, crocheting, knitting and sewing, and the temperament of one. When she's not guilt-tripping her two daughters into good behaviour, she can be found devouring books, crafting poems and puns, and chuckling at her own witticisms. She grew up in India and now lives with her husband and their two daughters in London. She has experienced so much joy through the enchanting artistry of many authors and creators, that she aspires to share at least some of it through her writing. For more of her work, see www.ramyajulian.com
