Many of his stories garnered thousands of hits per day, with some even reaching six figures. Maxey credits his success to a combination of factors, including his strong writing skills, his ability to find compelling stories, and the support of the PW editing team. Maxey is a lifelong activist with a passion for social justice. He is a member of the National Writers Union, UAW Local 1981/AFL-CIO, and he has worked as an administrative assistant, petroleum landman, barista, staff writer, paralegal, content producer, and graphic designer. He spent six months as a National Data Team volunteer for the Bernie Sanders for President campaign. Maxey is currently working on a book about the history of the Yuchi people. Mark Maxey (he/him; neurodivergent, gay, ability injured, post-traumatic stress injury, borderline personality injury) is an Oklahoman, a Yuchi Indian, enrolled in the Muscogee Nation, and studied radio/TV/film in college. He's worked as an on-air personality,, author, poet, artist, administrative assistant, petroleum landman, barista, staff writer, paralegal, concert promoter, music artist manager, content producer, and graphic designer. He spent 6 months as a National Data Team volunteer for the Bernie Sanders for President campaign. He is a freelance journalist with International papers and magazines with asocial justice focus. Recently was able to join the Hulu/FX Series Reservation Dogs, as an extra (Seasons 2 & 3) He's been a meditator for over 30 years (Buddhist, Chan, Zen), teaches meditation, and provides yoga instruction, and a Reiki III Master.
