The modern day variable frequency drives demand very rugged converters supplying power to the electric motors in a thermally and mechanically challenging environment. The converters need to handle relatively higher voltage and current levels and the controls have to exploit every bit of the installed capacity. Three phase Induction motor drives have been selected for analysis as these find direct applications in medium to high power industries.
