Autorenporträt
Dr Sanjay Kumar Shukla is a world-renowned expert in Civil (Geotechnical) Engineering. He serves as the Founding Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Geosynthetics and Ground Engineering and is the Founding Geotechnical and Geoenvironmental Engineering Research Group Leader at Edith Cowan University, Perth, Australia. He also serves as a Distinguished Professor of Civil Engineering at ten renowned universities across India and the United States of America (USA). These institutions include the Delhi Technological University, the Indian Institute of Technology Madras and the Southern Illinois University Carbondale. He is a registered Chartered Professional Engineer in Civil and Geotechnical Engineering with Engineers Australia. He also holds the designation of Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Engineer in Civil Engineering and is recognized as an International Professional Engineer in Civil Engineering by the International Engineering Association. Dr Shukla serves on the editorial boards of several international journals. He is a distinguished fellow of the American Society of Civil Engineers and Engineers Australia. He is also a life fellow of the Institution of Engineers (India) and the Indian Geotechnical Society and is a member of several other professional organisations. During his career which spans over 27 years, Dr Shukla has contributed significantly to teaching, research, consultancy, administration and professional engagement. He has authored over 320 technical articles, including more than 210 scholarly journal publications and has authored/edited 27 books, encompassing 7 textbooks and 25 book chapters. Dr. Shukla's generalised analytical expressions for seismic active thrust (2013) and passive resistance (2015) are integral to global engineering practices for retaining structures. Additionally, his wraparound reinforcement technique, developed during 2007-2008, stands as a recognized sustainable ground improvement method. Sumit Kumar is currently serving as an Assistant Professor at Government Engineering College, Palamu, under the Department of Higher Technical Education (DHTE), Government of Jharkhand, India. He has previously worked as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at BIT Sindri, Dhanbad. He holds a BE in Civil Engineering from BIT Mesra, Ranchi, an MTech from NIT Warangal, Telangana, and a PhD from IIT (ISM) Dhanbad, Jharkhand. His key research interests include the behaviour of structures under blast-induced ground motion (BIGM), structural dynamics, earthquake engineering, and soil–structure interaction. Dr. Kumar has published 11 research articles in reputed international journals and was honoured with the Best PhD Thesis Award in 2021 for his exceptional doctoral work at IIT (ISM) Dhanbad. Jitu Kujur is currently serving as an Associate Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at BIT Sindri, Dhanbad, Jharkhand, under the State Government of Jharkhand. He earned his BE and ME in Civil Engineering from BIT Mesra, Ranchi, and completed his PhD from IIT Delhi. His key research interests include the strength and durability of concrete, structural health monitoring, and corrosion. He received the Best Paper Award at an international conference held at VIT Vellore, India. Dr. Kujur has successfully led several field consultancy projects for organizations such as BCCL, NHAI, and FCI, and has published five research articles in reputed international journals.
