Matlina Merriweather is a graduate of Chatham High School in Chatham, Virginia. During her school years, she discovered a strong interest and talent in writing love letters and poetry. After graduating, she pursued higher education in Hotel and Restaurant Management. She also earned certifications as a Secretarial and Legal Secretary, became a commissioned Notary Public, and was authorized to solemnize marriages. She retired after a 24-year career as an office clerk in the retail industry. She was married for 33 years before becoming a widow and is the proud mother of three sons.
