Akemi Tomoda came to Canada in 1970 from Japan, following her marriage to husband Ken. She did not speak English at the time. In the years since, she has studied English and art, particularly watercolour painting. She is a devout Christian and regularly journals her 'testimony' of God's blessings in her life. These journal writings have been published in a trilogy, the first two being in 2011 and 2017. Akemi lives in Mississauga, and enjoys gardening, sewing and Bible study.
