Charles P. Roland is professor emeritus of history at the University of Kentucky. He is the author of several books and articles, including Albert Sidney Johnston: Soldier of Three Republics.Gary W. Gallagher is the John L. Nau III Professor of History at the University of Virginia, author of The Confederate War, and editor of the Civil War America series for the University of North Carolina Press. He lives in Charlottesville, Virginia.
