Trilogie noch die Alex-Turner-Reihe sind das, was man gemeinhin Science-Fiction oder Krimi nennt. Science-Fiction ist oft Technikspielerei - meine A.U.R.O.R.A. vs. E.L.I.X.A.R. Romane gehen tiefer: Sie stellen die Frage, was den Menschen im Kern ausmacht, wenn künstliche Intelligenzen Liebe, Macht und Verrat ins Spiel bringen. Krimis sind heute meist seichte Unterhaltung, vorhersehbar und austauschbar. Mit Alex Turner gehe ich den entgegengesetzten Weg: psychologisch, atmosphärisch, unvorhersehbar. Jeder Roman ist ein Experiment, ein literarisches Risiko. Ich schreibe, weil Literatur für mich ein Mittel ist, Menschen zu wecken - nicht sie einzuschläfern.
