SOME GAMES IN JUSTICE. OTHERS END IN BLOOD. ASSISTANT DISTRICT ATTORNEY MARGOT RANIER HAS BUILT HER CAREER ON CONTROL: For six years, she's kept a secret that could destroy everything: a killer known only to her as the Curator has been quietly cleansing New Orleans- exposing corruption through deliberate, poetic murders. Every body feels like a message written for her eyes alone. But the latest killing changes everything. The clues are no longer distant-they're personal, intimate, impossible to ignore. At home, her fiancé, Detective Daniel Elliot, senses her growing distance, unaware she's guarding a secret of her own. What Margot doesn't know is that Daniel is hiding his own darkness-one that could unravel them both. ENTER DR. SELENE LEFEVRE: Brilliant, magnetic, and dangerously composed. As a forensic psychologist, she dissects minds for a living-but Margot soon realizes Selene has a way of getting under her skin like no one else. What begins as professional respect becomes something far more volatile: a fascination that threatens to pull Margot off course. As the Curator's messages grow bolder and loyalties fracture, Margot must choose between the life she built, the woman she shouldn't want, and the truth she can no longer deny. BECAUSE IN THE END, WHAT IS JUSTICE-LAW, MERCY, OR SIMPLY POWER WEARING A MASK?
Autorenporträt
Alexandria Vaňková grew up in Deep East Texas, a short drive from the Louisiana border-where the drawl still slips through in the first sentence. With a graduate background in psychology, her early writing lived in research papers, including a thesis that rivaled this novel in both length and devotion. Now based in Austin, she writes Southern Gothic fiction where obsession, morality, and justice blur. When she's not drafting, she's cooking her family's gumbo recipe or roaming libraries in search of books with margins already marked in red. She lives with her wife, two children, and two spirited dogs.
