Rose Hawthorne Lathrop, born May 20, 1851, was an American author and social worker, known for her contributions to literature and her compassionate work with cancer patients. The daughter of the eminent novelist Nathaniel Hawthorne, Rose was steeped in a literary tradition from her youth. Lathrop's own literary style fused her deep spirituality with a keen observation of nature and human emotion, resulting in prose that was both heartfelt and evocative. Her work 'Along the Shore' highlights this lyrical style, showcasing her ability to capture the subtle interplay between the natural environment and human experiences.
