In central Mozambique, there are a number of geological resources, evaluated in large quantities in terms of their geotechnical situation. The geology is characterized by Precambrian terrain, divided into three tectonic blocks, which resulted in different collisions, forming a geological unit consisting of older rocks formed more than 600 million years ago. This formation covers an area of 534,000 km2, equivalent to two-thirds of Mozambique's territory, with its greatest expression in the central and northern regions of Mozambique. It is of Phanerozoic origin and consists mainly of sedimentary materials that formed between 300 and 700 million years ago. These rocks also include eruptive (magmatic) formations such as basalts and rhyolites, which can be found along the Namaacha border. This book is an introduction to geosciences, consisting of different geotechnical articles, in which three scientific stages were used, starting with desk work, followed by direct observation of outcrops, and finally the interpretation and analysis of data in the laboratory. As with any scientific work, it is to be expected that there will always be errors.
