This thesis deals with the topic of preschool classes and their influence on pupils. The aim is to explore the extent to which participation in a preschool class influences and supports children in their early childhood education, social development and transition to primary school. In the theoretical part of the paper, important terms are clarified and the system of pre-school classes in Austria is described in more detail. In order to gain deeper insights into the research field and answer the research question, a qualitative research method was chosen. To this end, six expert interviews were conducted with teachers who teach at an elementary school. The results of the interviews show that the teachers see the preschool class as a benefit for pupils. It emerged that participation in this class supports the children in various areas and has a clearly positive influence on their development.
