Die Autorin ist 57-jährige hochfunktionale Autistin, leidet an einer posttraumatischen Belastungsstörung durch Gewalt und Missbrauch, ist seit 20 Jahren trockene Alkoholikerin und lebt in einer norddeutschen Kleinstadt mit ihrem Mann, Katze und Hund. Sie machte ihr Abi am Abendgymnasium Bremen mit einem Schnitt von 1,1 und studierte Germanistik, Französisch, Erwachsenenpädagogik und Sport. Sie stellte aber fest, dass ein Studium an einer Universität für sie unmöglich war. Stattdessen "studierte" sie Zen und entwickelte daraus zusammen mit ihrem Mann ihre Lebensform der Stille, Schlichtheit und Struktur. Heute lebt sie zurückgezogen, befasst sich mit Postwachstum und Permakultur und ist glücklich.
