Confucio (551-479 a.C.) De descendencia noble, recibió una cuidada educación y se dedicó a la docencia. En su madurez empezó a ocupar cargos públicos, llegando a ser ministro del Estado de Lu. Con el cambio de soberano, perdió la confianza del nuevo rey y emprendió un duro viaje por los distintos reinos vecinos, en busca de mecenazgo y algún puesto público. Tras años de peripecias infructuosas, Confucio volvió a su tierra natal, donde se dedicó de lleno a la docencia y a la corrección de los manuscritos clásicos.
