The main purpose of this study was to assess opportunity and challenges associated with group work in EFL speaking classroom in Angacha General Secondary School. Further, the study aimed at recognizing factors impede the implementation of group work in EFL speaking classroom in Angacha in the School. The participants of the study were 174 students of the school and 4 teachers of grade 10 in EFL in the school. The participants (students) were grade 10 students who participated in completing the data .The instruments that were used for collecting data were questionnaire, interview and observation. Both qualitative and quantitative data were employed. The data revealed that the Angacha General Secondary school teachers had little application of the strategy is made; teachers were not using group work because of less attention and lack of awareness. It also showed that factors impeding the implementation of group work in EFL speaking classroom. It is hoped that the results of this study could be of much benefit for developing speaking skill in EFL using group work.

Tadiwos Hambamo Makebo, nascido em África, na Etiópia, licenciou-se na Universidade wolaita Sodo, departamento de língua e literatura inglesa, com um mestrado em TEFL, um bacharelato em inglês na Universidade de Adis Abeba e um diploma de inglês no Colégio Adventista da Etiópia. Atualmente, é professor de ensino de inglês como língua estrangeira na Universidade wolaita Sodo.
