MethodsDescriptive study involving analysis of data from January 2020 to December 2023. Data were collected by examination of the MAGPI database, death notification forms and maternal death review reports. Data processing and analysis was performed using EXCELL and Epi-Info 7 software. For data quality management, acceptable completeness is greater than 95% and acceptable concordance is between 95% and 105%.ResultsWe recorded 112 cases of maternal death. We noted completeness in 55% of variables and concordance between 83% and 100%. The median age was 30 ± 15 - 42 years. 79 cases (71%) lived in urban areas. 12 cases (11%) died during evacuation. 55 deaths (49%) occurred in the immediate post-partum period, with obstetric hemorrhage the most common cause in 43 cases (38%). The MMR increased from 138/100,000 live births in 2020 to 181/100,000 live births in 2023.
