This book highlights the importance of post-treatments in improving the mechanical properties of parts manufactured by laser powder melting (SLM). Through numerical simulations carried out with SIMUFACT Additive and experimental studies, it has been demonstrated that these treatments significantly influence the strength, hardness and durability of parts. Tests were carried out on 17-4PH stainless steel samples, both in the untreated state and after heat treatment, showing that the latter significantly increases hardness and improves overall mechanical properties. Microscopic observations revealed a reduction in porosity after treatment, contributing to improved mechanical performance. However, difficulties in fatigue testing prevented the generation of a complete Wöhler curve. In conclusion, further research into other types of post-treatment and more in-depth analysis of manufacturing parameters are recommended to optimize both the SLM process and the characteristics of the partsproduced.
