The author is is a retired senior teacher from the Midlands in the UK, with a wicked sense of humour, not all of it related in this book. The book relates to holidays experienced by the author from a young age right into the late middle age that did not always go according to plan. Some have hilarious incidents in them worthy of a comedy film.My hero is Bill Bryson, and in no way do I get anywhere emulating him, but I did try.
