Dr. Mayfield hat zahlreiche Beiträge zu den Themen Unternehmertum, Innovation und Risikokapital verfasst und Vorträge gehalten. Er hat Vorlesungen an der Napier University, der Oxford University, der Cambridge University und dem Dundalk Institute of Technology gehalten. In den Jahren 2006 und 2009 hielt er die Grundsatzreden auf der Konferenz für Kleinst-, Klein- und Mittelunternehmen in Port Au Spain, Trinidad.
