Peter Kappeler ist Inhaber einer Brückenprofessur an der Universität Göttingen. Er ist sowohl Lehrstuhlinhaber für Soziobiologie & Anthropologie am Institut für Zoologie und Anthropologie der Universität als auch Leiter der Abteilung Verhaltensökologie und Soziobiologie am Deutschen Primatenzentrum.
