And this isn't even mentioning the ferocious pheasant, Slim David, and a certain clan of rumbustious, but lovable filching Pixies, intent on robbery and ruining the highlight of the Faerie calendar - the annual Faerie foot race and the Orange Moon Ball. Narrated by Kit Marlowe himself, - or is it perhaps Shakespeare, who was not only witness to the events recounted, but also a late bit part player - this is a warm, fuzzy retelling of an epic episode of Faerie history, and gives us insight into what characters like Voltaire, Charles Dickens, and other key historical giants get up to when visiting the Faerie kingdom ... Christopher Marlowe, born on 6 February 1564 in Canterbury, United Kingdom, was a renowned playwright, poet, and translator whose works shaped the course of English drama. The son of John Marlowe and Catherine Marlowe, he became one of the most prominent figures of the Elizabethan literary world. His plays are marked by their poetic grandeur, exploration of ambition, and probing of moral and existential questions. Marlowe's command of blank verse and his portrayal of larger-than-life characters introduced a new dramatic intensity that deeply influenced later writers, including William Shakespeare. His works often examined the conflict between human aspiration and divine order, portraying individuals driven by desire, intellect, and defiance. Beyond his literary brilliance, his life was shrouded in intrigue, with associations to espionage and intellectual controversy. Despite his early death on 30 May 1593 in Deptford at the age of 29, Marlowe's legacy endures through his timeless works, which remain celebrated for their depth, passion, and innovation within the canon of English literature.
